Gift Aid Scheme

If you are a UK taxpayer, the value of your gift can be increased under the Gift Aid scheme. Currently any donation made under the Gift Aid scheme is worth an additional 25% - so for every £10 donated The Children's Trust receives £12.50.

Your questions answered

If you are a UK taxpayer we can claim back the tax on your donation, from the Inland Revenue on your behalf – all you have to do is tick the box to indicate that your donation can be Gift Aided.

Please note: if you pay less Income and/or Capital Gains Tax in the current tax year than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all your donations it will be your responsibility to pay any difference

  • Can I make my Gift Aid declaration online?

If you make a donation through our website, please tick the Gift Aid box under your donation amount to enable us to claim the tax back.

  • What if I send my donation through the post?

Please download and print out this Gift Aid Declaration Form. Send it back to: Jean Waller, Fundraising, Freepost Plus RTJG-BLBT-UTLK, The Children’s Trust, Tadworth Court, Tadworth, KT20 5RU.

  • What if I don’t pay tax?

If you do not pay tax please email or call Jean on 01737 365838 and she will make a note on our records. It is worth noting that if you are retired, you may still pay tax on savings or on a private pension plan.

  • What if I pay a higher rate of tax?

The Children’s Trust will still be able to claim the tax back at the basic rate. However when you complete your Self Assessment form, you may like to nominate The Children’s Trust to receive the extra 20%. The Trust’s code is RAE46PG.

  • What if my circumstances change?

If you no longer pay enough tax to qualify for Gift Aid, please let us know, and we will update our records.

Hello, My name is Tina and I am the mother of Tommy who was helped by The Children's Trust. I want to say a huge THANK YOU to you for helping children like him by supporting The Children’s Trust with your kind donation. My son, Tommy, was just two when an accident left him with severe traumatic brain injury as a result of damage to his brain stem. It is every parent’s nightmare. He was suddenly so fragile and helpless whereas before he had been such a cheeky and determined little boy. The hospital stabilised him, but he could not walk or talk anymore. Then we came to The Children’s Trust’s specialist centre in Surrey. Over the six months we were there, I saw a transformation take place. The therapists and nurses were determined to get him to walk and talk again. They adapted their techniques to my little boy and made the therapy so playful. First he learnt to sit, then he learnt to crawl and finally he learnt to walk and talk. I stayed here with him in the parent’s accommodation and I saw, first hand, the love and kindness the staff at The Children's Trust show for each child. Words cannot express the gratitude I have for them. Thank you for helping The Children’s Trust be there for more children with a brain injury like Tommy. Best wishes, Tina

Ellie's Appeal
Thank you so much for your donation to support children with brain injury. Ellie is celebrating Christmas at home this year. We couldn’t be more happy for her! However, many of the children at The Children’s Trust will not be able to go home. As we gear up for Christmas, arranging parties and buying gifts, we rely so much on the generosity of people like you to make sure that we give all of the children at The Children’s Trust the best Christmas they possibly can have. Merry Christmas and thank you once again, Marcia Hibberd Fundraising Manager
My donation was as a result of using The Children's Trust ecard system
Elliott's appeal
Thank you for your donation to Elliott's appeal. You are helping us support so many children with brain injury. Each year 40,000 children sustain a brain injury - children like Elliott. We want to help as many of these children as possible. Children who come to The Children's Trust for rehabilitation are able to take part many different therapies, such as physiotherapy and play therapy, to help give them the best recovery possible. With your help, our team is also able to do activities that complement therapies and add to each child’s wider rehabilitation programme, like the days out Elliot benefited from so much. It is gifts from kind people like you which is allowing us to continue to offer such extensive rehabilitation and to continue to improve the quality of life of children with brain injury. Thanks again, Marcia Hibberd Fundraising Manager
We’re delighted that Rachel is heading home this Christmas to celebrate with her friends and family. But many of the other children we support at our national specialist centre will be spending the festive period with us. Donations from supporters like you help us to make their Christmas’ as special as we can, as well as helping us support children with brain injury all year round.
After spending a few months at Tadworth Court for rehabilitation after her brain injury, we’re delighted Rosie is continuing to progress at home and is settling back into everyday life with her parents and siblings. Your kind donation will help to buy specialist equipment, like switch operated toys which so other children like Rosie can have fun interacting with the world as they go through rehabilitation and face the most difficult challenge of their lives.

If you are a UK taxpayer, the value of your gift can be increased under the Gift Aid scheme. Currently any donation made under the Gift Aid scheme is worth an additional 25% - so for every £10 donated The Children's Trust receives £12.50.
